Applications for the KM series continuous mixer |
No matter how effective a dry dust collection system is – eventually
the dust has to be discharged from the system. This generally leads
to a materials handling nightmare, or at best a waste of water to
slurry the dust so that it can be pumped to slimes dams. Loedige’s
KM series of Ploughshare® mixers provides an alternative
solution. It is now possible to micro-agglomerate the dust into fine
prills with particles sizes of around 1
mm. This makes the material
dust free, facilitating materials handling by conventional means
such as conveyor belts or pneumatic conveyors. The material can now
easily be recycled to processes or even dumped to landfill without
dusting problems being a concern. The units can also be used to
micro-agglomerate furnace feeds, such as flotation concentrates,
reducing the loads on bag houses.
The effectiveness of the KM mixers at homogenising materials can
provide an added advantage for applications in which the effective
dispersal of additives, such as binders or reductants, is critical.
With machines being able to handle a throughput of up to 900m³/h,
Loedige is able to provide solutions for most dust handling
problems.
