Rotary Vane Vacuum Pumps

The rotary vane vacuum pump belongs to the group of compressor pumps. Vanes are guided in the eccentrically arranged impeller whereby owing to the rotation, the vanes are forced outwards to the wall of the pump chamber. With vanes made of graphite, the pumps operate free of oil. For pumps designed for low pressure ranges, oil is used as the sealing and lubricating medium. Two-stage and three-stage pumps of this type are capable of attaining ultimate pressures extending in to the medium vacuum range.
Rotary vane vacuum pumps are well suited for pumping of dry gases. For humid gases, these pumps have their limitations. Owing to the relatively low investment cost and the low installation complexity, this type of pump is attractive for simple vacuum applications. Rotary vane vacuum pumps find a broad field of application in the packaging industry as well as in the holding and lifting facilities. Also in laboratories they are popular because of the low installation complexity. Oil-sealed pumps are employed in these processes also by way of backing pumps for Roots vacuum pumps.
